Jennifer Dalzell, EdD

Jennifer Dalzell is a career educator, having served as a teacher, instructional coach, workforce development manager, and most recently as director of education for adult public charter schools serving immigrant families in Washington, DC. She has also taught ESOL and Integrated Education and Training courses at Montgomery College in Maryland. A lifelong learner, she recently completed her doctorate in education from the University of Pittsburgh in Administrative and Policy Studies through the lens of Urban Education. Her studies included analyzing and improving systems and structures that have contributed to inequitable opportunities for learners. Her dissertation focused on improving English literacy outcomes for adult learners who are emergent readers in their native language.

Jennifer's educational career has spanned the globe. She has taught internationally in Venezuela, Egypt, and Italy and domestically in California, Maryland, and Washington DC. Her experience in workforce includes designing, implementing, and managing career pathways in healthcare and education. One of the programs she founded was a bilingual teaching assistant program that trained adult immigrant learners to serve as paraeducators in DC public schools.

Jennifer earned her MA in The Administration of International and Overseas Schools at The College of New Jersey, a secondary teaching credential from California State University in Fullerton, and a BA in business economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She is a certified Language Development Specialist.

Although Southern California will always be home, Jennifer resides with her husband in Washington, DC, where they can be found biking throughout the city. Favorite routes are the Anacostia River Trail and the C&O Canal, both for the beautiful scenery and many happy memories of family bike trips with their two daughters.
